10 basic principles when installing Floorify
This does not replace the installation instructions. The installation instructions are the most complete and important documents to be taken into account.
1. floating installation
Floorify is always installed as a floating floor system, without glue. The floor boards are provided with a 360° click system that allows you to continue laying in any direction. The floor components must at all times be able to expand and contract freely in response to changes in ambient temperature.
2. high- quality underlay
Always use a high-quality underlay such as the Floorify Performance underlay or the Floorify Comfort underlay. Our floors and their performances have been tested extensively in combination with our underlays. In case of damage of the Floorify floor caused by the use of an underlay other than the Floorify Comfort underlay, the warranty given by Floorify will be null and void.
3. expansion
Always ensure there is a free expansion joint of at least 5 mm around all walls, door frames, windows, thresholds, pipes and heavy objects (e.g. kitchen cupboards and kitchen islands, built-in cupboards, etc.) so the floor can move freely. Floorify can be installed to a maximum surface area of 20x20m without any additional expansion joints if the rooms have the same ambient temperatures.
4. Transport en acclimatization
A Floorify floor must always be stored horizontally, fully supported on a fully dry surface. Allow a Floorify floor to acclimatise to room temperature for at least 12 hours before installation in the room in which it will be installed.
5. subfloor
A decent subfloor is essential for an optimal result. The screed must be hard, sufficiently flat and non-resilient. The maximum height difference can not be more than 5mm over 2 linear meters (3mm for herringbone). There should be no joints/grooves more than 5 mm in width and/or 4 mm in depth.
6. moisture
Although a Floorify floor is highly water-resistant and can be installed in a damp room such as a bathroom, it offers no solution for structural moisture problems. Pay extra attention when laying on a screed with integrated floor heating or floor cooling. Always take into account the maximum residual moisture that a screed can have. Allow the screed to dry out sufficiently and then always go through the entire heathing-up protocol. Make sure you measure the moisture values on regular times and keep a good record of the results.
7. underfloor heating
Floorify is extremely suitable for floor heating due to its low heat resistance (R-value).
8. Visual check
Always check the batch number of the different floorboards and make sure that all floorboards come from the same batch. Check each floorboard for visual defects in optimal light conditions. Mix floor panels from different packs during the installation and avoid two identical floor panels too close together.
9. A good start is half the battle
Pay close attention to the installation of the first two rows. Make sure the first rows are in one straight line and use spacer blocks to respect the expansion joint. The distance between two end joints should always be a minimum of 30 cm.
10. Prevention and maintance
A Floorify Floor is highly resistant to scratches, but not entirely scratch-free. Always protect furniture and chair legs with high-quality, soft protective caps or felts. Always protect the floor against heat radiation, fire and extreme heat. When cleaning, always use a pH neutral (pH 7) cleaningproduct such as our Conny. For intensive cleaning, Conny Turbo can be used. Use Conny Care to extend the life of the floor and make scratches, streaks and natural ageing less visible.
