How do you install a vinyl floor around a pillar or pipe?

One pipe? Just measure!

  • When you you encounter a pipe as an obstacle, measure precisely where the pipe will fall in the room.

  • You can then measure how large the starting piece needs to be to make sure that the centre of the pipe is not on a seam.

  • In the two planks that will go around the pipe, cut two semi-circles with a diameter of +15 mm so that there is enough clearance. You can then click the two planks into place and fit them around the pipe.

Other method: You can also start the row in which the pipe falls with the two planks around the pipe and then lay in both directions.

Several pipes? Or perhaps the pipe is in the middle of a plank?

  • Measure where the centre of the pipe will be on the plank.

  • Use a hole saw bit to drill a hole with a slighter larger diameter (+15 mm). You can then saw the plank or tile into two pieces, with the cut line through the axis of the drilled hole.

  • Rub the cut line clean so that there are no burrs and so that the joint will be less visible. The two pieces can now be fitted around the pipe.

  • You can then apply suitable PVC between the two pieces, but make sure that there is no adhesive between the Floorify and the subfloor/surface so that Floorify still floats.
