Why is an underfloor needed when installing a vinyl floor?

When installing the Floorify rigid vinyl floor, you must use a high-quality underfloor. There are two types of Floorify underlay, namely the Floorify Comfort and Performance underlay.

An underfloor has a number of roles:

Levelling

An underfloor compensates for minor unevenness in the surface below and helps to create a smooth surface to walk on. The Floorify underlay absorbs unevenness to 5 mm over 2 linear metres (3mm at 2lm for herringbone) and covers joints that are small than 5 mm in width and/or 4 mm in depth.

Noise reduction

The underlay insulates sound travelling to the floor below. With a Floorify Comfort underlay, you can achieve a sound reduction of 21 dB, which is better than the European standard of 18 dB or ∆Llin 10 dB.

The underlay ensures that particles and grains of dirt never come into direct contact with the hard base of the floor. This prevents irritating creaking noises when you walk over the floor.

Impact resistance

Much like the sole of a shoe, the underlay has a shock-absorbing effect in respect of the floor. The Floorify subfloors increase comfort when walking and boosts the impact resistance of the floor.

Perfect support for the click connection

Thanks to its harder edge, the Performance underlay optimally protects the click joints of your floor. So it extends the lifespan of every Floorify floor

Floorify underlays are perfect for underfloor heating!
In combination with underfloor heating and cooling, the Performance underlay is an absolute top performer. Because it maximises heat transfer, underfloor heating and cooling can work optimally, saving you energy.
